Today, Warner Brothers revealed the trailer for Batman: Knightfall, a new addition to the DC Animated Universe. Knightfall will follow a comic run from the early 1990s, featuring a massive breakout from Arkham Asylum and numerous classic villains.

Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios have shared a first look and trailer for Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall, the new multi-part animated film event.

Last year, we got word that Warner Bros. Animation, DC, and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment were developing a multi-part animated adaptation of the acclaimed Batman '90s comic book storyline that introduced Bane, Knightfall, and the movie will have its world premiere during France’s Annecy Animation Festival this week.

For comic book fans of a certain age, "Knightfall" is one of the biggest Batman story arcs ever published by DC Comics. The arc is infamous for having the Caped Crusader's back broken by the super steroid-enhanced genius Bane.

It's easy to see why Batman: The Animated Series has lasted this long in the spotlight, and an official return makes it even more apparent.
