A state investigation is underway after members of Tennessee’s National Guard shot and killed a 20-year-old man in downtown Memphis on Sunday morning, while they were patrolling the streets as part of a task force created by President Donald Trump.

Two Tennessee National Guard members fatally shot a man in Memphis who turned toward them with a gun during a downtown pursuit, authorities said.

Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy confirmed the shooting took place in Downtown Memphis early on July 5.
